  1. The Children's Museum at Yunker Farm, Fargo

Located in Fargo at Yunker Farm is the interactive Children’s Museum which is housed in an old brick farmhouse that dates back to 1876. It is believed to be haunted by the ghost of Elizabeth Yunker who has been seen hanging around upstairs where children’s activities take place. A ghost of a young child who died long ago in the old well has been seen standing next to that same well. Also, the elevator sometimes works on its own.

 

  1. St. Joseph's Hospital, Dickinson

Located in Dickinson, St. Joseph's Hospital is said to be haunted after employees have reported numerous paranormal activity throughout the building. For example, the elevator down to the morgue is often seen operating all by itself!  In the morgue, doors open by themselves even though they can only be opened from inside of the morgue unless someone has a key. Disembodied voices are fairly common in the cafeteria and there are lots of running footsteps in the basement. A ghostly patient at 3rd floor never left the hospital.

 

  1. Totten Trail Inn, St Michael

The Stanley Hotel of North Dakota, is claimed to be haunted by a number of ghosts including Native children and a couple. Commonly sighted spooky things include shadowy figures darting in and out of one's peripheral vision, objects moving by themselves, doors opening and closing on their own, and even full-body apparitions from time to time. It is without a doubt one of the most haunted buildings in North Dakota.

 

  1. Fort Abraham Lincoln Custer House, Mandan

Located in Mandan, the Fort Abraham Lincoln Custer House was built by General George Armstrong Custer who died during the Battle of Little Big Horn in 1876 before moving here. It is reported that his upset wife still wanders the house looking for her husband, wearing a black mourning dress.   Visitors witness flickering lights, opening and closing doors and hear voices when they tour the house.

 

  1. Riverside Cemetery, Fargo

Riverside Cemetery is the largest and oldest cemetery in Fargo, with over 18,000 burials.  There is a certain mausoleum that is especially notorious - if you place a recording device on it, you will hear tapping from the inside. Ghosts have also been reported walking the grounds at night.

 

  1. Chateau De Mores, Medora

The Chateau De Mores was once home to the Marquis De Mores and his wife Medora, after whom the city is named. Witnesses have reported seeing strange lights flicker on and off. Many visitors have reported feeling cold spots. It is believed that this is the work of Medora De Mores who died while traveling and never got to return home.

 

  1. Old Armory, Williston

The Old Armory was built in 1915. Visitors have reported seeing mannequins move around on their own. Ghostly whispers have also been heard by staff and witnesses.

 

  1. San Haven Sanatorium, Dunseith

San Haven Sanatorium was opened in 1912 in order to treat those suffering from tuberculosis. In its heyday, the hospital would have housed as many as 1000 patients.  It is said that a baby can be heard crying inside, faces can be seen looking out of the windows, dark shadows can be seen wandering the empty rooms, and sightings of orbs and apparitions are plentiful.

 

  1. Harvey Public Library, Harvery

Harvey Public Library was built in place of The Bentz residence. In 1931, Sophia Eberlein-Bentz was brutally murdered by her own husband. He was arrested and convicted of the murder later. The library staff began to move into the new building on the 59th anniversary of Sophia’s funeral and unexplained activity began to happen almost immediately. The office sits more or less where Sophia would have died.

 

  1. North Dakota State University, Fargo

Ceres Hall and Minard Hall are said to be the most haunted spots in North Dakota State University. The 3rd floor of Ceres Hall is claimed to be haunted by a man who hung himself from one of the heating pipes during World War II.  In the 1920s, the fourth-floor attic of Minard Hall was a dance room where two people died and the case of this double homicide was never solved.
