Bragg Road or Light of Saratoga

Bragg Road (also known as Ghost Road) runs between the abandoned village of Bragg and Saratoga. According to the legend, if you travel down the old logging road in the dark of night you can see a light flickering on and off in the distance. The light is apparently the lantern of a railroad worker looking for his head which he lost in a train accident.

Excelsior House, Jefferson

Excelsior House is the oldest hotel in East Texas according to the National Register of Historic Places. People claimed the hotel is haunted by a headless man on the second floor and a woman in black who has a baby. The phantom woman has appeared and frightened many guests including film director Steven Spielberg. It is said, Spielberg made the film Poltergeist based on his experiences at this hotel.

Baker Hotel, Mineral Wells

Visitors and staff have claimed to see 49 spirits at the Baker Hotel. It’s said that the ghost of a woman haunts the seventh floor: she was perhaps the mistress of the former hotel manager who committed suicide from top of building. Many have reported the ghost of a man who was killed after being caught in an elevator door.

Marfa lights, U.S. Route 67

As witnesses have reported, Marfa lights are strange balls of light that inexplicably appear in the distance. According to students at University of Texas, the lights were most certainly caused by traffic headlights from automobiles travelling along U.S. Highway 67. But even today, many people believe Marfa Lights as a supernatural source.

The Driskill Hotel - Austin

According to stories, Col. Driskill haunts the 130 years old Driskill Hotel. Many guests reported all manner of strange phenomena during their stay, like the smell of cigar, unexplained noises, distant voices, and occasionally full-on apparitions.


Devil's Backbone, Texas Hill Country

The Devil's Backbone in Texas Hill Country is allegedly haunted by Spanish monks, Native Americans, Confederate soldiers on their horses, and a wolf's spirit. The highway has been the scene of numerous fatal car accidents. People have heard the ghost horses’ galloping across the Devil’s Backbone.

Granbury Opera House, Granbury

The Granbury Opera House is said to be haunted by the ghost of John Wilkes Booth, the actor responsible for Abraham Lincoln’s assassination. Staff claimed the sightings of Booth standing in a white shirt and black pants. Also his footsteps can be heard at the balcony.

Houston Zoo’s Commissary, Houston

Houston Zoo is said to be haunted by the first zookeeper, Hans Nagel, who was shot and killed in Hermann Park under strange circumstances. Over the years, zoo employees have observed strange phenomena, including a shadowy figure and a disembodied voice at Houston Zoo’s commissary.

Spaghetti Warehouse, Houston

Spaghetti Warehouse was once a warehouse for pharmaceuticals. It is said that; young pharmacist accidentally fell into its open elevator shaft and died. His broken-hearted wife died soon after. Today, their spirits haunt the second floor where staff have reported furniture being rearranged, floating bottles of wine and sudden cool breezes.

De Soto Hotel, El Paso

De Soto Hotel is known for being home to some of El Paso’s most wicked spirits. Its resident ghosts include a shadowy figure that stands in doorways, and a playful little girl named Sara. Guests and staff have reported being bitten and scratched.
